A Landmark Research Partnership

Through collaborative efforts with the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Education and Information Studies (SEIS), as well as the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS), Teach For Armenia has undertaken a comprehensive study to assess the efficacy of its signature Teacher Leadership Program.

The study aims to answer a central research question: What impact does Teach For Armenia's approach to teaching have on student leadership, the school, and the community at large?

Research Phases

78 schools identified across Armenia. 39 intervention schools paired with 39 carefully selected control schools in partnership with MoESCS to ensure rigorous comparative analysis.

During October 2023, a team of trained data collectors gathered baseline data from both control and intervention groups. With guidance from CRESST, local collectors ensured precision and accuracy throughout the process.

Collected data was transferred to CRESST at UCLA for comprehensive analysis, establishing the foundation for measuring Teach For Armenia's added value as a program.

The next major milestone includes a second round of data collection at control and intervention schools, featuring extensive stakeholder interviews to provide qualitative data on Teach For Armenia's community impact. Culminating results will compare progress across both groups over the full school year.

Generous Support

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to Dr. Eric Esrailian and UCLA's School of Education and Information Studies (SEIS) for their generous financial backing of this pivotal study. Their invaluable contribution enables CRESST and Teach For Armenia to catalyze meaningful change in the realm of education, fostering transformative prospects for students and educators not only within Armenia but also reaching beyond its borders.
